Shinnecock Bay Restoration Project Is Tagging Fluke; If You Catch One Please Throw It Back

We have recently begun a tagging study of fluke in the bay. We are using acoustic tags and receivers to study the movement of summer flounder, or fluke. If you happen to catch a tagged fish, please consider releasing it so that we can continue to collect important data. Attached is a flyer outlining what the tags look like, and a number you can call if you encounter a tagged fish.

Dan’s to Partner for this Year’s HARVEST on August 23

In its fifth year HARVEST has taken on a new partner. The Long Island Wine Council and the nonprofit HARVEST East End are partnering with Dan’s to put on Long Island Wine Country’s signature event on Saturday, August 23. The event, now called Dan’s HARVEST EAST END, will remain in place on the North Fork at McCall Ranch in Cutchogue. This year’s honorees are chef Tom Schaudel and New York Times food writer Florence Fabricant.

The River Café Is Hosting a Fundraiser for Gerry Hayden July 16

The iconic River Café is hosting a charity event reuniting its past chefs for a garden party tasting under the Brooklyn Bridge in honor of and to raise money for one of its own, chef Gerry Hayden of North Fork Table & Inn. Proceeds from the tasting event will go toward promoting research for ALS and to raise money for quality of life care for Hayden.

New Chefs Announced for Great Chefs Dinner

The 10th annual Great Chefs Dinner is just around the corner and tickets are still available. The list of celebrity chefs who have signed on to cook for the cause, which will raise money for the culinary and garden program as well as scholarships for students at Jeff’s Kitchen at the Hayground School, is nothing short of stellar.
