“I have a saying about this cocktail,” says Marilee Foster. “Just like a farmer’s daughter it is fresh, sweet, and a little spicy.”
Looking for a great, versatile cocktail recipe to sip and serve this summer? Look no further. This cocktail recipe from Sagaponack Farm Distillery combines so many of our favorite summer flavors and is easy to adapt to suit your tastes and even the time of day.
“The way we develop cocktails in the tasting room is based on our level of curiosity and creativity,” says Marilee Foster, who owns and operates Sagaponack Farm Distillery with her brother, Dean. “We started with our cucumber vodka, which is really fun and has a very fresh cucumber flavor, and thought it would be interesting to add grapefruit juice and see how those two interesting flavors play together. So we started what we call workshopping it and that’s how we arrived at the Farmer’s Daughter.”
The sweetness of the grapefruit juice pairs beautifully with the fresh herbaceousness of the cucumber vodka, and a pinch of hot chili flakes adds a playful bit of heat to finish it all off.
