If Thanksgiving feels like a truly senseless amount of work for one single meal, just know this: You don’t have to do it unassisted. In the digital age, you can recruit help for any old task, and that includes making dinner for a crowd. But what are the best bets when it comes to catering the monumental meal that is Thanksgiving? Here are our top four picks for 2019.
Harbor Market & Kitchen
Sag Harbor
This year’s Thanksgiving menu includes turkey, of course ($155 for enough to feed 6 to 8 people), seven vegetable and side choices, soups, cheese boards, and a selection of pies and desserts. Everything is priced a la carte, by the pound or quart—or, in the case of dessert, by the item. Place orders by phone at 631.725.4433. Pickup is at the market, in Sag Harbor.
Hello Oma
East Hampton
This East Hampton newcomer will be leading the charge with a catered Thanksgiving option this year. Chef-owner Kristofer Kalas has a background as a private chef, experience he will draw on for these specialized holiday meals. Order turkey and fixing a la carte, or purchase a package, available to feed up to 12 people. Dinner packages include turkey, chicken and sausage stuffing, kale Caesar salad, mashed sweet potatoes, cast iron Brussels sprouts, and pie, along with sage gravy and Port-cranberry sauce. Place orders by November 23 at hello@hellooma.com.
Cavaniola’s Gourmet
Sag Harbor
Cavaniola’s offers a broad array of choices when it comes to Thanksgiving, including roast filet mignon, sugar-glazed spiral ham, and, of course, turkey. In addition to sides, desserts, cheese boards, and appetizers, they also offer a category of caviar. For the holiday, you can order anything from 28 to 500 grams of Hackleback or Osetra caviar. Orders must be placed by Saturday, November 23. Pickup can be arranged in both Amagansett and Sag Harbor. Call 631.725.0095 for more information.
Hamptons Aristocrat
Bridgehampton
This well-respected catering company puts on a fine Thanksgiving. Whole turkeys, cooked, are $16/lb. Diners can choose between any number of sides, sold a la carte, or they can opt for the drop-off package, at $50/guest: confit turkey breast over stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, chicory salad, dinner rolls, and assorted desserts. For $500, you can skip the pretense and have the Hamptons Aristocrat team come to your home. A private chef will cook your Thanksgiving, stock your fridge, and teach you how to reheat everything for the next day (private chef packages are available for the day before the holiday). Meals can be reserved online here.
