“Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.” – A.A. Milne
The beauty of being still and giving thanks for all of our blessings often gets lost in the rush of the holidays and the pressure to be perfect. As a host, you have one shot to prepare a meal that most of us make—well, once a year. The truth is: most of us just want to sit around the table with our loved ones, chat, watch some football, and fill our bellies with good food. We want a moment to be thankful and few of us want to spend the entire day in the kitchen.

Guess what? It can all be simplified and everyone can get back to spending time with friends and family — even the host. All you need to do is plan ahead (and even slightly last minute) and let the professionals cater a dinner that will make you look like the perfect hostess (which, really, I know that you are) while giving you what’s most important — time to be a part of the memories.

1. Art of Eating, Amaganssett

The Art of Eating will prepare your Thanksgiving dinner in small batches — just like at home. The free-range turkey is locally sourced from Watermill and is fresh (never frozen). Want to pretend you cooked the whole thing? No worries, your turkey will come with extra broth that you can use to baste while warming your perfectly pre-cooked bird. There’s also a choice of stuffings such as Cornbread Dressing with sausage, pecan, and apples. Seven additional side choices include traditional mashed potatoes or cranberry sauce to more unique options like a half pan of kale, delicate squash, baby carrots, roasted beets, pomegranate and sesame (that’s all one dish). Of course, you’ll need to save some room for delicious desserts like the crisp and light Pear Almond Tart.

2. Seasons of Southhampton (SOS), Southampton

With SOS, you can stay in your pajamas until the guests arrive, because they’re offering a complete package with the option of having it delivered to your doorstep. This package includes soup, salad, a whole roasted turkey with giblet gravy, traditional stuffing and all the necessary fixings that go with an authentic Thanksgiving dinner. Unbutton your pants (if you ever changed out of you PJs) and indulge in your choice of pie from homemade apple crumb to pecan or pumpkin.

3. Lombardi’s Market, Mattituck

Lombardi’s Market is offering a Gourmet Thanksgiving with an eighteen pound turkey taking front and center. You have the option of picking it up cold and reheating or for a nominal fee, picking up your glorious bird already seasoned and hot. This meal is accompanied by the obvious trimmings of a good ol’ fashioned Thanksgiving including turkey pan gravy, fresh cranberry sauce, mushroom and caramelized onion bread stuffing, assorted dinner rolls and your choice of two additional sides — perhaps the Butternut Squash and Apples or the gourmet macaroni and cheese casserole? Choice of pie includes good ol’ American fashioned apple or pumpkin but for those who want something rich and decadent should not fret, as ten mini cannolis are included in the package. All you need to do is brew up some locally roasted coffee and tea!

4. Harbor Market & Kitchen, Sag Harbor

Harbor Market will roast up an organic, free range turkey (8-12lbs./serves 6-8) with gravy. Sides are sold by the pound and include all the amazing choices you’d expect plus some fun ones like; Potato Gratin – dauphinoise, baked with garlic & fresh cream, Wood Roasted Brussel Sprouts – pomegranate & toasted pecans, and Haricot Vert – shallots & toasted almonds. They even offer fun starters that remind us it’s still the harvest with Spiced Pumpkin Soup or Roasted Butternut Squash Soup made from local apples and honey. You can conclude this tasty meal either by cutting into a traditional pie or something with a fun twist like the decadent Chocolate Pecan Pie.

5. Maple Tree BBQ, Riverhead

Requiring just three days’ notice, you can enjoy a dinner for two (or fifteen) with a choice of either smoked or roasted turkey, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, cornbread or biscuits and two additional sides such as corn shuffle and whipped sweet potatoes. End your happy affair with traditional homemade pies, chocolate chip cookies or fudge brownie (or all three — you know, if you want to).

6. Catena’s Market, Southampton

Maybe Turkey isn’t your thing — it’s a holiday and you want something just a little different to match your unique personality. Fear not because Catena’s offers all types of holiday favorites like Rotisserie Duck, Beef Wellington in Mushroom Duxelle, and wait for it… Roasted Boneless Pork Loins (stuffed with apples and oranges and topped off with cranberry relish). Your holiday meal can be whatever you want it to be with sides like Asparagus with Mustard Vinaigrette and Green Beans Almandine. While the rest of the world is still hungover from their turkey coma, you can be up bright and early to go after your Black Friday deals.
