6 Places to Watch Football & Eat/Drink Something Good

burger_01_doug young

It’s kind of coming in fits and starts but we know it’s fall because last Sunday was the start of football season (go Giants!). My nephew is starting varsity in his senior year of high school, people are breaking out the bean bag game and packing up deep fryers that they run at tailgates in parking lots: voila, made to order chicken wings.

Stadium parking lots are a hike for East Enders, but we’re lucky that some of our sports bars will cater to gridiron lovers with plenty of televisions, cold beer and specials perfect for eating at the bar. Did we miss any?

Phil’s in Wading River

Classic Long Island sports bar with 58 (!) televisions and their own blond ale brewed by Long Ireland Beer Co. in Riverhead on tap. The Polish Town Pils, also by Long Ireland is also on tap. Get the baked clams and the mozzarella garlic bread and you’re ready to watch your team win (or lose, as the case may be.)

Legend’s in New Suffolk

Sit beside some sailors and take in the 20 flat-screen televisions with one of the 21 beers on tap. The square bar has a separate menu from the restaurant and is the place to get a burger. The Monday through Friday happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. offers $5 cocktails, draft beers and house wines.

Get your beer on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays with other football fans when this Speonk gastro pub offers $5 craft beers from their interesting and extensive menu. The TVs are going and the brews are flowing. Lots of good parking too.
