10 Things We Can’t Wait to Eat and Drink at our Food Truck Derby

Our Food Truck Derby is our favorite event of the summer—and it turns out that it’s a favorite event, period, for some of the participating food trucks, too. It’s easy to understand why. Henry James said the most beautiful phrase in the English language is “summer afternoon;” our Derby takes a summer afternoon and adds three key ingredients: the Hamptons, drinks, and plenty of food. Upgrade!

Here are 10 things we’re especially looking forward to eating and drinking this Friday:

1. Twice-Fried, Hand-Cut Fries from Eat Me, Drink Me

Because: FRYDAY is our favorite day of the week and Eat Me, Drink Me’s fries are always a highlight of our Derby.

2. Fresh Lemonade from Sweet’tauk

Because: Beyoncé, we’re really happy for you and we’re gonna let you finish, but Sweet’tauk’s lemonade is the greatest of all time.

3. Triple Threat Brownies from Blondie’s Bakeshop

Because: We’ve always dreamed of being in a love triangle with chocolate chip cookies, Oreos, and brownies.

4. Empanadas from Island Empanada

Because: Empanadas. It’s self-explanatory.

5. Chocolate Szauce and Maple Walnuts from Old School Favorites

Because: We’ve been known to eat Old School Favorite’s Chocolate Sauze by the spoonful—and our Food Truck Derby is a judgement-free zone.

6. Dry Rosé from Wölffer Estate Vineyard

Because: There’s nothing better than a glass of Wölffer rosé in the summer.

7. Cheesesteak Sliders from Chiddy’s Cheesesteaks

Because: Cheesesteak sliders combine all the best parts of a normal-sized cheesesteak—namely, the steak and cheese—without any of the mess.

8. Pork Carnita Tacos from Noah’s on the Road

Because: Tacos from Noah’s are practically a food group for us, and these—served with grilled pineapple salsa and chipotle aioli—are making us hungry already.

9. Mini Organic Local Squash Cakes from Sea Bean Natural Food Company

Because: They’ll be served with Sea Bean’s much-beloved tomato jam—and what’s not to love about local, organic squash?

10. Filetti Pizza from Pizza Luca

Because: Let’s be real—if it’s good enough for Martha, it’s good enough for us.
