On a crowded side road in Woodbury, N.Y, East Coast Wood Barrels is busy making barrels for craft brewers, distillers and wineries all over the United States. I was there on Friday with photographer Matt Furman for a story that will run in our Spring Issue, which will hit the streets April 1. (Get a subscription to get your copy delivered to your door.) The story behind the Romanian immigrant, who learned cooperage on his family’s farm before Communism, is fascinating.
These guys, who run the only cooperage on the East Coast, are so busy they can’t keep anything in stock. Not a bad position to be in. Stay tuned.
