This weekend, the last in October, marks the “unofficial” close of “the season.” That hardly means that we’re rolling up the sidewalks and hibernating until the spring thaw, only that the lively energy of the North Fork will quiet down. If you haven’t been out this season or have been meaning to get back, this is a great weekend. There are no shortage of events. Looking ahead, Long Island Restaurant Week (the first week in November) is fast approaching. The North Fork Table is offering cooking classes on Saturdays in November. With only 30 spots available, it’s a fantastic way to learn from some of the best on Long Island. Noah’s Winemaker Sunday dinners continue into November. They’re a great experience: Noah prepares a tasting menu paired each week with a different vineyard’s wine. There’s also the second annual Taste North Fork, Nov. 8-9, with shuttles between the wineries and enhanced service from New York City and Orient. Many wineries are participating and offering events and specials.
