Farm Stand Collab: What’s Cooking Good Looking?

After having an amazing time cooking with farm fresh food Edible brought us from the Sag Harbor Farmers Market, we pass the cooking baton to Jodi Moreno for the next round in our multi-part series of farm stand collaboration. Edible sources amazing produce from local bounty to hand over to home cooks, chefs and bloggers. They, then, create a meal.

Jodi is a natural food chef who cooks healthy whole foods with amazing flavors that she shares on her blog, What’s Cooking Good Looking. We spent a recent Saturday morning walking the fields at Amber Waves Farm, which offers CSA members a beautiful collection of vegetables and often flour and wheat berries, which are also grown at the farm. Each week members pick up their weekly share and are invited into the fields to harvest at least one “u-pick” vegetable, herbs and flowers. Lucky for us, fresh raspberries were in season. At 9:30 a.m. the farm was bustling with CSA members chatting and picking up their boxes, children running from the tree swings to the field where the chicken coop is kept, and farmers and apprentices were going about their daily tasks. After our harvest, we checked out the farm’s store, which carries Carissa’s Breads, Mecox Bay Dairy cheese, Briermere Farms fruit and their own eggs and wheat berries.

Back home, Jodi made cucumber radish-avocado gazpacho. Using a blender, she combined olive oil, water, vinegar, salt, red pepper flakes, a few cracks of black pepper, avocado and cucumber. She then added shallots, garlic and radishes and blended again until smooth. See her blog for the full recipe.

While strolling the fields with Jodi, we talked about some of our favorite bloggers and Instagram food accounts. We mentioned one of our favorite Instagrammers, @dennistheprescott, who routinely gives big sandwich inspiration. Inspired, Jodi served house guests grilled zucchini panini using Carissa’s Breads with sautéed collard greens, Mecox Bay Dairy cheese and horseradish-garlic mayo.

Stay tuned for our next installment. We have invited Heather from Eat Real Food NYC to cook from the great East End products brought to us by Edible via Good Farm Delivery.
