It’s been said (and sang) that everybody’s working for the weekend—and with Dan’s Taste of Summer set to return to Bridgehampton this Friday and Saturday, the weekend’s never been quite so worth working for. Returning for its fourth year, Dan’s Taste of Summer offers just about everything a foodie’s dreams are made of: an entire weekend of delicious food and drinks, with healthy servings of dancing and some stiff culinary competition on the side.
And it all kicks off this Friday, July 11th, with Grillhampton. Hosted by Robert Irvine, star of Food Network’s “Restaurant Impossible,” Grillhampton will pin eight New York City chefs against eight of the East End’s own for a grill-off of epic proportions. Even attendees will be able to get in on the action—a ticket will buy you not only the pleasure of tasting the barbecued bounty (while sipping cocktails and enjoying the sounds of The Nancy Atlas Project), but the chance to cast a vote in the contest as well. So which hometown hero will get your vote? The choice won’t be an easy one—not with luminaries like Victor Tapia of The Palm East Hampton, Billy Oliva of Delmonico’s and Peter Ambrose of Peter Ambrose Events among the competitors.
And that’s just day one. The festivities will continue on Saturday, July 12th, with the return of Dan’s Taste of Two Forks, an institution of an event that will see the area’s best restaurants and winemakers team up for a night of fabulous food (and drinks!) from East End hotspots such as Navy Beach, The Bell & Anchor, Topping Rose and Nick & Toni’s. Attendees will also be treated to an extra special treat in shape of the evening’s hosts: stars of Food Network’s “The Kitchen,” Katie Lee and Geoffrey Zakarian.
Hungry yet? Me too. So let’s meet this weekend at Dan’s Taste of Summer. Finally, a weekend worth working for!
