Chef Gerry Hayden of North Fork Table and Inn.
The iconic River Café is hosting a charity event reuniting its past chefs for a garden party tasting under the Brooklyn Bridge in honor of and to raise money for one of its own, chef Gerry Hayden of North Fork Table & Inn. Proceeds from the tasting event will go toward promoting research for ALS and to raise money for quality of life care for Hayden. In January 2011, Hayden was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig ’s disease. Among the distinguished alumni coming together at the event will be David Burke (David Burke Townhouse), Drew Nieporent (Tribeca Grill), Charlie Palmer (Aureole), Joseph Realmuto (Nick and Toni’s), Bryan Voltaggio (Volt), Brad Steelman (the River Café), and Claudia Fleming (The North Fork Table & Inn and Food Truck) as well as a dozen other prominent New York chefs and restaurateurs. This is a great opportunity to support a wonderful cause while eating food cooked by some of the top chefs in the business at the restaurant where they all got started.
The garden tasting will be held on July 16 from 6 to 9 pm at the River Café garden and terrace on 1 Water Street in Brooklyn. Tickets are $250 and can be purchased at aloveshared.com.
