The village of Westhampton Beach, which has its own mayor, is distinct from the hamlet of Westhampton, which is part of Southampton Town. And it is the home of a diverse farmers market that is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this summer. It’s open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m from May 10 to November 22 at 85 Mill Road. (See map at bottom.) For a list of vendors, click here. I recommend the eggs from Duffy’s Farm, not that I’m partial. Below find a sample of what’s on offer each week.
1. Duffy Farms
Duffy, it’s a nick name and no relation to me, sells eggs, vegetables and Angus beef.
2. Wesnofske Farms
The Peconic based Wesnofske Farms sells more than 45 different varieties of fruits and vegetables. The family run farm started in 1967.
3. Utopia Bath
Merilyn Konnerth’s company, Utopia Bath, is in Bellport. Her soaps are hand made, then wrapped in sheep wool. Hot water gets the wool to mold to the soap; when dry, the soap will act as a luffa. The wool serves as a mild exfoliate, and wool, unlike cotton, is anti-bacterial.
4. Miss Amy’s Preserves
Miss Amy’s Preserves from the Bluepoint/Patchogue area. Her preserves are hand made from start to finish with no additives or preservatives. She was featured in the summer issue of Edible Long Island.
5. Boathouse Road Company
Boat House Road Company of Hampton Bays specializes in party essential. All products are handmade, from mustard, dips and dressings, dry rubs, spice blends, and baking mixes. Marie Sellers, the owner, is launching Hamptons Party Slush, a line of organic cocktail mixes.
6. Mecox Bay Dairy
Mecox Bay Dairy is in Bridgehampton. Milk from their 18 cows are turned into an English style Cheddar, a two-year-old Gruyere, a tome and their Atlantic Mist, combination of Brie- and Camembert-style cheeses.
7. Talk Treats To Me
Hampton Bays-based Talk Treats To Me specializes in all natural dog treats, made from liver, beed, chicken and yams.
8. Pierpont Blossom Farm
