Are Bees the New Chickens? Workshop on April 12

bees and honeycomb

I kind of hope so. The vulnerability of our bee population is scary. They are so necessary for nearly all kinds of agriculture that if the pollinators become so scarce they can’t do their job, we’re in big trouble. So maybe it’s time to put the chicken coop on hold and build some hives. Learn how on April 12 at the Shelter Island Historical Society with beekeeper Sarah Shepherd. A beekeeping workshop begins at 1 p.m. and at 4 p.m. the movie “Queen of the Sun” will be shown. $5 donation appreciated. Call 631.749.0025 for more information.
