Everyone thinks they have the best chili recipe, be it all meat, no meat, chicken, white, beef, pork (I don’t think I’ve ever had fish chili. Would clam chili be the same thing as chowder?). Even if you don’t make chili, you probably have an idea of what the best chili tastes like. Next Sunday, March 30, starting at 1 p.m., anyone with $25 and an empty stomach will get to vote on chilis made by five local chefs and eight home cooks. The Chili Cookoff will be held at Clovis Point and is a fundraiser for Group for the East End.

The participating chefs are Christopher Augusta (The Harvest Inn), Erik Brown (Erik’s Breakfast & Lunch), Lia Fallon (The Riverhead Project), Tom Schaudel (A Lure, A Mano, Jewel) and Noah Schwartz (Noah’s). Tickets include a taste of all the chilis, a ballot and for guests over 21, a glass of Clovis Point Merlot.
