Last month, staff members from Love Lane Kitchen traveled to Guatemala on a mission to bring aid to the hometown of one of their own. Photographer David Benthal took some great pictures of the foods of San Antonios el Angel, where Jazmin Carrillo grew up. She wanted to help the village’s children have some of the advantages she has had, so she started Programa Sueños, charity whose goal is to raise education levels.
On Thursday, February 27, Love Lane Kitchen, partnering with Chef Gerry Hayden of the North Fork Table & Inn, will host a fund-raiser for the nonprofit. Hors d’oeuvres from the North Fork Table & Inn like tuna tartar, smoked salmon on Blini with horseradish, potato-truffle crusted scallop and fluke ceviche will be passes and Love Lane Kitchen will be serving mini lobster rolls and lamb chops. Grace & Grit will provide bacon-wrapped dates and coffee rubbed steak. Local beer from Greenport Harbor and wines from Roanoke, Bedell, and McCall will also be served.
A raffle and auction will also take place with prizes including dinner at the North Fork Table & Inn, a gift certificate from First & South, a gift certificate from Crystal Clear company and more. The cost is $100 per ticket and must be purchased in advance.
