The wine shop in Wainscott is taking on a new life with a change in ownership and management. Wainscott Main Wine & Spirits will kick off the new regime in style this Sunday, January 19, on the long MLK weekend.
Chimene Macnaughton will be buying the wine for the store and plans to focus on local wine with an emphasis on wines from members of Long Island Sustainable Wine Growing, a trade group dedicated to protecting workers and the environment. Edible has covered their development. “We plan to offer a deep selection of the best of what our gorgeous local terroir has to offer,” says Macnaughton. “To open, we are concentrating on producer stories and I’ve committed to members of the LISW group specifically.” These include Channing, Bedell, Paumanok, Lieb, Shinn Estate and Wölffer. A full list of LISW is here.
The open house will be at the store in Wainscott Village Plaza, 354 Montauk Highway next to the Seafood Shop from 2 to 5 p.m. A band, Mamalee Rose and Friends, will play, winemakers will be on hand to pour and the Seafood Shop will be providing snacks.
