On Saturday, November 9, Hallockville Museum Farm and A Taste of the North Fork will partner to offer “Preserving the Harvest,” a hands-on workshop in the proper techniques needed to preserve vegetables using the water-bath canning method.
Mark Vosburgh, of Hallockville, has won over 100 awards for his canned fruits and vegetables at fairs and festivals across New England and New York. He will share his expertise and passion for canning at the workshop with Jeri Woodhouse, owner of A Taste of the North Fork at its production facility, North Fork Specialty Kitchen.
The workshop, designed for beginners and experienced canners , will offer two hours of instruction and hands-on opportunities, along with a tour of the kitchen and light refreshments. The vegetables featured in this workshop are subject to seasonal availability, but should include tomatoes, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts.
Space is limited and advance registration for the workshop is required. The fee is $30 for Hallockville members and $40 for non-members and includes all materials. More information is available at hallockville.com or by contacting us at 631-298-5292 or allockv@optonline.net.
We went to Hallockville’s tomato tasting with Steph Gaylor in August.
