Earlier this month, Catapano Dairy Farm joined hundreds of farms across America for the country’s largest cheese competition hosted by the American Cheese Society in Wisconsin. With 257 cheese makers submitting 1,794 different products, Catapano Dairy of Cutchogue stood out among the thousands of cheeses when they placed second in their category of fresh unripened cheeses made from sheep’s milk. The first place cheese in the category was a buffalo ricotta from Ontario, which makes places them as Best Sheep Cheese in America!

Unlike other cheese competitions, where cheeses are only graded down for technical defects, ACS’s goal is to give positive recognition to high quality cheeses after an aesthetic and technical evaluation.
