Food and Wine Events for the Weekend: Get Out and Taste!

The height of the summer brings the harvest of bursting fruits and vegetables. And traffic. But if you plan it right, the weekend can be filled with an easy-going food and wine experience. Here are some things to check out. HARVEST East End will be taking over McCall Ranch and Vineyards to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Long Island Wine Country. Woodside Orchard’s hard cider tasting room is going off. Bring $16 or an empty growler and $13 and take home the freshest cider; the raspberry flavored cider, made with real raspberries is delicious. A BYOB painting class with Artists & Carafes and live music might be right up your alley: Saturday at Port of Egypt Marina. The East End’s latest boutique winery, Coffee Pot Cellars, will have live music on Saturday afternoon. Edible profiled one of Adam’s wines in 2011. The Roaming Fork food truck will be parked at Clovis Point on Saturday afternoon. Get a lobster roll. Jamesport Vineyards will be holding this summer’s second Wine, Beer & Oyster Festival from 1 to 5 p.m. at the winery. The family friendly event will have live music and handmade pizzas, $15.

Two great resources for food and wine events can be found at the online calendars of Peconic Land Trust and the Long Island Wine Council.
