Stephanie Gaylor

August 18, 2 p.m.: Tomato Tasting with Invincible Summer Farms.

Stephanie Gaylor from Invincible Summer Farms returns to Hallockville at the peak of tomato season to share why heirloom tomatoes are so special, tips on how to grow them and, best of all, offer samples of dozens of tomatoes from her farm. Advance is registration required. Call 631-298-5292 or e-mail hallockv@optonline.net to sign up. The fee is $12 and $5 for children aged 6 to 12; children under 6 are free.

Gaylor was featured in our Spring 2012 issue, when she was just getting her farm and seed saving program, Long Island Regional Seed Consortia, underway. This summer she says she has developed more than 100 bullet-proof seeds to thrive in the climate and soil of the East End. The plants are also adapted to the pest and disease problems of our region. Plus they taste delicious!
