As we reported, the Great Chefs Dinner is one of our favorite events because of the mashup between local chefs and their chef friends/allies from New York City. The benefit supports the Hayground School and its unique food education program. There’s a school garden and Jeff’s Kitchen, named after one of the school’s founders Jeff Salaway. There the students prepare lunch for their classmates, taking turns week by week.
So we put it out there, free tickets to the event’s cocktail party for readers who answered this: What was your favorite school lunch? You responded, and two winners were picked at random and will be attending with a guest Sunday night. So, congratulations to Pam Deutchman and Aiste Ulezko! Ulezko said she likes the “cute little people made out of farm vegetables for my friends son.” And Deutchman recalled how “my elementary school always had fancy hot lunch options, but I would always select the old daily standby of peanut butter sandwiches. My dad still reminds me to this day how much he was paying for “gourmet lunches” via tuition, and all I wanted to eat was PB (no J) sandwiches!
See you there!
There’s still time to get tickets for the cocktail party, which starts at 5:30 p.m. and cost $175 each.
