Ruschmeyer’s Welcomes New Chef Team for Its Third Season

Ruschmeyer’s in Montauk is in full swing during its third season: A new chef team–Matt Kliegman, Carlos Quirarte, and Melia Marden of The Smile in Manhattan are  operating the restaurant in collaboration with executive chef Brian Loiacono– has created a menu emphasizing Montauk’s freshest seafood and local produce, paired with an extensive wine list featuring a diverse selection of biodynamic, sustainable and organic wines. The main dining room offers fresh updates of Oceanside favorites in a soaring mid-century modern A-Frame space, while a smaller breakfast nook allows for a friendly and communal start to each summer day. The bar welcomes new hand crafted cocktails served up by mixoligist Colin Asare-Appiah including this seasons signature cocktail, the ‘Moscato Crush’ (Waqar Pisco, moscato grapes, simple syrup and fresh lemon).

Ruschmeyer’s has been listed as an editor’s pick in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2012 Hot List and will be holding a bunch of events this summer:

Reggae Sundays – New this season are Reggae Sundays kicking off with a Memorial Day charity event on Sunday May 26th. Join Mike D (Beastie Boys) and Creative Director, Robert McKinley as they raise money for Waves for Water and The Rockaway Plate Lunch Truck. Both notable causes, Waves for Water works on the front-line to provide clean water to communities in need around the world and The Rockaway Plate Lunch Truck works to fill plates and build spirits with their food truck staffed by top NYC restaurants. Save the date and start summer off on the right foot with music entertainment provided by DJ Stretch Armstrong.

Movie Mondays – Relax in the Magic Garden for movie nights every Monday at 9:00 pm starting June 17. Snack on popcorn and enjoy quirky, classic Montauk-centric films.

A Night of Comedy w/ Seth Herzog – Beloved NYC comedian, Seth Herzog (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, 30 Rock, Chappelle’s Show) brings his unique brand of sharp and spontaneous comedy back to the Electric Eel, July 3rd, July 17th, July 31st and August 14th.

Bingo Thursdays – Mark your calendars every Thursday starting June 6th because Bingo is back with entertaining, MC Zach Bliss, who is upping the anti this season with a “spin on a game show format.” Expect choreographed celebratory dances along with special guests. The People’s Bootcamp – Starting mid-June, every Saturday at 10AM, celebrity fitness trainer Adam Rosante will bring back Manhattan’s toughest workout, The People’s Bootcamp, for his second season at Ruschmeyer’s. Work on your torso and your tan on the Ruschmeyer’s lawn with Adam’s 45-minute high-intensity workout that torches fat, builds lean muscle and skyrockets your metabolism while using only bodyweight as resistance. Afterwards, rally inside the breakfast nook with Adam who says, “Nothing’s better than starting the day with an outdoor workout and then ducking inside for some fresh-pressed juices and avocado toast.”

After all the adventure, unwind in one of Ruschmeyer’s 19 cabin-inspired guestrooms. Designed by creative director Robert McKinley the hotel pays homage to its summer camp roots with hammocks in each room and handsome wicker headboards. Local snacks and treats such as Tumbador Chocolate bars and Montauk Beverage Works Iced Tea can be found in the mini bar. Cozy up to select lifestyle/art magazines like Monster Children, Not Not Awesome and Bullett Magazine along with select local reads like, Edible East End and The Usual which can be found in the breakfast nook. John Masters Organics returns to Ruschmeyer’s to provide specially designed bath products for guests in rooms. This along with the custom, all natural, vegan, cold-pressed soaps courtesy of Herbal Soap Works makes your stay that much more relaxing.

Around the restaurant and hotel, the staff have been outfitted in Levi’s Made and Crafted and shoes by Sperry Topsider. This is the first hotel collaboration for Levi’s Made & Crafted, who’s fresh take on classic Levi’s designs adds to the nostalgic camp vibe of Ruschmeyer’s.
