Food Truck Derby Takes a Second (and Third) Lap

Edible East End’s Food Truck Derby, which took place last summer at the Hayground School in Bridgehampton, has started a new tradition.

2012’s event saw more than 12 trucks brave a sudden thunderstorm to serve their specialties. Southampton Public House pumped kegs, and live music played within the truck circle. The event will be reprised twice this year, once again at the Hayground School and, for those who live further west, once in the parking lot at Tanger Outlets in Riverhead.

In the parking lot of Tanger 1, there will be Long Island beer, representatives of Long Island Wine Country and an outdoor marketplace. (Homemakers take note: The shopping center will also be featuring sales on outdoor furniture and other pre-season offerings.) Expect True Believer Cider and Peconic Bay Winery poured along side at least one dozen trucks including the Wandering Palate, the Lemonade Truck, the mobile Hampton Coffee Company, Silver Spoon Specialties and the Long Island Oyster Company, which will be serving up bivalves from a rolling cart, Morris Grilled Cheese, our North Fork Table and Inn and Korilla BBQ on April 21 from noon until 5 p.m. The Hayground Derby will be on August 9, even bigger and better than last year; Montaco will be returning as will Hamptons Foodie,Mexicue and many more mouthwatering mobile munchies.

Find out who else will be joining us and reserve your space here for the Tanger Derby here, and for the Hayground Derby here.
