Bay Scallop Season Opens; Help Save Them at This Sea Grass Fundraiser

I was able to buy a pound of Peconic Bay scallops for $19 at Mattituck seafood in East Quogue on Monday. They didn’t come in until about 5:30 p.m. and, of course, were delicious–just browned butter in a very hot pan, butternut squash on the side.

A good way to help keep the scallops around is to support Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Marine Meadows program. They’re holding a fundraiser this Saturday, Nov. 17. at the Natural History Museum in Bridgehampton. Expect to eat some scallops! Details here.
