Plans for Community Farm at Stephen Sherrill Site in East Hampton

A group has formed to preserve three acres on one of the last of the early East Hampton settlers’ family farms for a community garden with an in-residence farmer. Stephen Sherill Farm on Springs Fireplace Road has a solar-powered house on the property where the farmer to live. The group has been working with the town in the hopes it will elect to use community preservation funds to purchase the land, which is adjacent to 16 acres of preserved land.

The group has started a Facebook page, and has the support of the East Hampton Star editorial page. The farm has been in the Sherill family since 1792.
