Preservation nonprofit Peconic Baykeeper is hosting a stand-up paddle race on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Haven’s Beach in Sag Harbor. The race, which will divided among three catagories–recreational, stock and elite–will start at 9:30 am, registration begins at 8 am. The rain date Sunday, May 20, at the same time. Participants who register in advance will pay $40; to register on the day of is $50. All proceeds will benefit Peconic Baykeeper’s clean water programs.
The recreational race will cover 3.5 or six miles; stock and elite will be six miles. To register mail payment to Peconic Baykeeper at P.O. SUP boards, kayaks and canoes will available for rent. After the race there will be a gear raffle and an update on the State of the Bays following the race.
