Chef Greg Ling at The Riverhead Project on East Main Street in Riverhead has clearly made an impression on East End eaters. An online query re favorite foods of 2011 brought comments about the restaurant’s sizzling lobster perogies and the grilled romaine salad.
Now on Mondays starting in January The Riverhead Project will widen the the restaurants cuisine with The Chef Project as guest chefs join Ling to create six-course menus.
“It’s all about community” says owner Dennis McDermott “We approached The Chef Project as a continuation of our Tuesday night Wine Project, which has been so successful we are turning people away.”
While the Wine Project seats up to 14 at a long dining table, family-style, and focuses on wine, “the Chef Project will focus on amazing food and guest chefs” says McDermott. Upcoming Mondays will feature local chefs such as A Lure’s Tom Shaudel, Luce + Hawkins’s Keith Luce, the Frisky Oyster’s Robby Beaver, and Scrimshaw’s Rosa Ross preparing a Chinese New Year banquet.
EEE covered the opening of The Riverhead Project in its Spring 2011 issue; this winter the restaurant was Newsday’s Peter Gianotti’s top restaurant of the year.
