Winemaker Studio Kicks Off

Anthony Nappa, left, pours his wine. Next to him is Roman Roth.

The Winemaker Studio on Peconic Lane in Peconic had its opening party last night.

The studio is the brainchild of Anthony Nappa, who has his own line of wines in addition to his duties as winemaker at Shinn Estate Vineyards. He was pouring three wines: Anomaly, a rosé made from pinot noir; Spezia, a gewurztraminer; and Luminous, a riesling.

Also selling their private label wines at the studio are Roman Roth, of the Grapes of Roth; he had his riesling and merlot. Roman is also the winemaker at Wölffer Estate. John Leo, winemaker at Clovis Point, was showing his private label’s, Leo Family Wines, first release, a 2007 merlot blend. And Russell Hearn and his wife Sue were there pouring their Suhru wines, their private label. Russell is also the winemaker at Pellegrini and an owner of Premium Wine Group.

Good turn out, and great wines.
