Shelter Island Dominates Maritime Chowder Contest

Comment | September 27, 2012 | By

It was kind of thin competition (no soup pun intended) at the chowder contest at Sunday’s Maritime Festival in Greenport. Only seven restaurants entered and the majority of them were new. This year saw First and South, Blue Canoe, Salt and The Islander. Returning after a long absence was the Elbow Room and A Lure made its first showing with the only Manhattan clam chowder. And the winners are:

The panel of judges: 1st, Salt; 2nd Blue Canoe; 3rd Noah’s.

Popular vote: 1st, Blue Canoe; 2nd, Townsend Manor Inn; 3rd, First and South.

Congrats all! Winners took home $250 and a trophy to keep for the year.
