Just Because Summer Is Over, It Doesn’t Mean There’s Nothing to Do: Check out Shelter Island’s Fifth Annual Plant & Sing

Join Edible for this celebration of local food, spoken word and foot-stomping music at the fifth annual Sylvester Manor Educational Farm “Plant & Sing” festival on Shelter Island October 6th through October 7th, 2012. (Learn more and reserve your space here.)

At this family-friendly event community members will gather to plant and harvest fall crops and transform the farm fields through work, festive song and dance, recitations, and food events.

Festival events will include: musical headliners BÉLA FLECK and ABIGAIL WASHBURN, author SILVIA LEHRER, a film screening by JOE LAURO of Historic Films and the GREENHORNS, a worksong workshop, a contra dance lead by the GAWLER FAMILY, garlic planting and shucking, a sweet potato harvest, and sunrise yoga.
