Someday This Will All Be Filled With Food Grown/Made on the East End

This is one corner of the 108,000-square-foot building on Sound Avenue in Calverton that will soon be filled with shucking, chopping and packaging machines, cold storage and, I guess, more storage for local agricultural products. That’s a lot of space. As we wrote in our 2012 High Summer issue, this agricultural enterprise terminal, or Agri-Park, as the state is calling it,  is a private-public collaboration with the backing of J. Kings, an island-wide food distribution/packaging/delivery company and the state of New York, which awarded the project a $500,000 grant under its regional council initiative. (State press release here.)
