On Saturday, July 23 at 11 a.m., an expert from Cornell Cooperative Extension will talk about late blight, which has been moving across Long Island affecting tomato and potato plants.
The community gardens at Peconic Land Trust’s agricultural center at Charnews Farm in Southold were contaminated with late blight this week.
Meg McGrath from CCE will be at the farm to discuss this deadly fungus and the necessary remedial actions taken by trust staff regarding the community garden project. She will also be available to answer any other questions related to plant diseases.
Attendees will be provided with a list of plants that can be grown between now and late fall in place of tomatoes and potatoes.
This presentation is followed by a pot luck luncheon. Please bring a dish to share with the group.
