Goodale Farms’ plain chevre and unflavored feta cheese took first place at the American Dairy Goat Association’s 2011 National Convention held on October 22.
The Aquebogue farm obtained its dairy license this past spring and seems to be going full gallop.
Cheesemaker Karen Danzer works for Hal Goodale, who comes from a long line of East End farmers, and Kevin Dunathan.
The farm’s dairy makes cheeses, butter, bottled milk, bottled cream, yogurt and cream cheeses from cows and goats raised on site. In addition, there are vegetable, fruits, jams, jellies, salsa and sauerkraut, all sold at the farmstand, which is right on the Main Road. Their products can be found at some farmers markets, several wineries and a few restaurants.
