Eats to Know and MTK Festival Ticket Giveaway

The MTK Festival features a curated list of bands, to be paired with suds from Bing beer bars at stage right, and a childrens space courtesy of Playful Gardens.
Unless you’ve been living under a clamshell, you’ve heard about the MTK Festival, the inaugural musical coming together nestled in the woods north of Wainscott that–not unlike Edible magazine when it comes to food culture–offers a curated selection of boutique bands for your enjoyment. Headlined by Vampire Weekend (who doesn’t like vampires nowadays?) and Bright Eyes, the event offers two full days of music on August 13 and 14.
Edible East End is a proud partner in the festival (and is looking forward to hearing Chromeo’s set): we’ve been suggesting what concert goers might eat for a thorough immersion in East End food culture; we also helped select some of the beers being served.
And we are pleased to offer two giveaways contests, each for a pair of two-day General Admission passes. (The pair is valued at $390.)
First, the more interactive contest, we invite you to comment below with your vote for the best song about food. (For inspiration, check out these picks from the Village Voice’s Robert Sietsema.)
Second, subscribe to Edible between today and Aug. 4, and we’ll enter you in a drawing for another pair of VIP tickets.
Winners for both will be announced on Aug. 7.
Beyond the food and drink (and music, of course), MTK is setting some new standards for creative programming. Our friend, Milo, has been blogging about concert fashion. And, for parents and kids alike, our friends at Playful Gardens are sponsoring a children’s garden on the festival grounds, where parents can “escape to this whimsical space to relax while the little ones explore the natural elements.” Look for a return to nature with the teepee village, nature arts and crafts, sensory gardens, planting activities, a magical tree castle with a secret hideaway, and “a water pump and elaborate shading” to ensure keeping cool under the August sun. Call 631.377.6553 or visit www.myplayfulgarden.com for
more information.
(Note to city readers: The MTA just added late-night, westbound service for, in the words of festival organizers, “all the people in the NYC-Metro area that don’t want to spend the night out in the Hamptons, you can now come enjoy the festival all day, and be back at your local bar telling your friends all about it by 2AM on either day!”)

@facebook-8800120:disqus . Yes, wine is a food, in this case. Or, at least, “songs about wine,” (“Spill the Wine,” by Eric Burton and the Animals) would also qualify for this contest. And you get props for naming a song from the concert headliner.

@a278d2c2facdbaebabc68d83dcd4ab75:disqus , @28dc7e6fcb868857e9cc15a2db65907f:disqus , We did change the contest after a few people had already commented. Sorry. It was a typo. It was supposed to be songs about “food,” not songs about “music.” But all comments will still be counted, and we appreciate the extra effort.
