Coffee Reincarnation: Java Nation Rises Again in Bridgehampton

After being adrift in the coffeeshop-sphere for too long, I enjoyed my first cortado at the newly-relocated Java Nation. (It was excellent.) The hangout-friendly space has exposed brick walls (a bit like Joe Art of Coffee near Union Square), the same delicious pastries, and a separate space for the booming roasting operation. “We’ve been selling a lot of beans,” said Cheryl Bedini, who roasts along with her husband Andrew. This new shop, a stone’s throw from the Birdgehampton LIRR station (close enough even for Java Nation’s Sag Harbor regulars to carpool), is open daily. You can also buy Java Nation beans in Sag Harbor, at Cavaniola’s, Provisions, Golden Pear, Dockside restaurant and Haborwoods B&B; the Hayground School farmers market; Breadzilla in Wainscott; Pelligrino’s (formally Armand’s) in North Sea and Tutto il Giorno in both Sag Harbor and Southampton; and with your pizza at Grana in Jamesport.

Java Nation’s move makes us think about how much the East End coffee scene has evolved in the last few years. In addition to standbys like Hampton Coffee Company and Aldo’s, there’s now Tend in Center Moriches and Long Island Coffee Roasters in Southold. Talk to us. Tell us where you get your East End coffee these days.
