Keith Luce to Leave Jedidiah Hawkins Inn and Luce+Hawkins Restaurant

Chef Keith Luce and the owners of Jedidiah Hawkins Inn are parting ways. In an e-mail Luce stated he was unable to comment at this time. Calls to owner Lia Polites have not been returned.

We featured Luce in our Low Summer 2010 issue, when he first came to the East End to take over the restaurant at the inn, which was renamed Luce+Hawkins. Since then he has cultivated a dedicated following and has become famous for his duck wings in addition to his active Facebook account, which still lists him as an owner of the restaurant. Since its opening in September, Luce has also served as the menu consultant for the new bowling alley in Riverhead, The All Star.

Alex Algieri, the former chef of North Fork Oyster Company, will be taking over at the stove. Farouk Ahmad, owner of that restaurant, confirmed he is negotiating with a new chef, someone local and experienced, he said.
