“Escape from New York” Eats and Ticket Giveaway

With Jack's Stir Brew coffee, Luke's Lobster rolls and lots of tasty, eccletic food, Escape from New York's culinary lineup is more befitting of the New Amsterdam market than the Shinnecock Reservation.

‘Tis the season of fundraisers, soirees and big, blowout events on the East End. We’re particularly psyched about a couple in the music-appreciation category. There’s the much-talked-about MTK Festival on August 13 and 14 (for which we helped suggest the beers, and Edible has been blogging for concertgoers here).

And, on Aug. 5 and 6, there’s another event newcomer, Escape from New York,  a motley gathering recently profiled in the Sag Harbor Express. Like MTK, Escape from New York event has an impressive food lineup to go with its music acts (Patti Smith, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, an acoustic stage presented by Jack’s Coffee). Curated by the chefs behind the Fat Radish on the Lower East Side, Ruschmeyer’s in Montauk and the catering firm Silkstone, Escape from New York  has food offerings more befitting the New Amsterdam Market than an event on the Shinnecock Reservation.

We are pleased to offer two chances for you to win a pair of Two-day General Admission passes to Escape from New York. (The pair is valued at $275; for an extra $65, you can camp on the grounds. And for $2,000 more you can “glamp,” which means the sort of higher-end camping in a teepee or safari-style tent you might do if you were Madonna or the President.) Read on to learn how to win.

Silkstone, the group behind The Fat Radish on the Lower East Side and Ruschmeyer’s in Montauk, will curate the festival’s culinary and lifestyle experiences. Featuring more than 12 different New York based restaurants fresh seafood from Luke’s Lobster, American BBQ from Brinkley’s, ceviche, hanger steaks and tostadas from Ofrenda and traditional tacos with homemade guacamole from the soon-to-open Pulqueria. In addition, attendees will be able to choose among Mediterranean food, innovative sandwiches, and Vietnamese cuisine, as well as “a customized collection of farm-to-glass “Culture Cocktails” with great consideration for late summer East Coast produce,” like a Farm Fresh Lemonade Stand, a Bloody Mary Bar, a Bubbles Bar with a host of fruitful and herbaceous champagne cocktails and the main “Around The World” Bar featuring an international assortment of six different produce driven innovations of classic worldly cocktails.

Finally, the event features a “Record Breaking Brunch” on Sunday, August 7th at 11 AM, when Escape to New York will attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the world’s biggest brunch at a live music event, with a menuthat includes fresh fruit, yogurt and granola, avocado toast with 6-minute eggs, and the traditional English dish, Bubble and Squeak. Fresh orange juice, Kanon Organic Vodka Bloody Marys and Champagne by Veuve Clicquot will be served.

HOW TO WIN: For your chance to win this pair of tix, give us a comment below that tells us your pick for the best song about food. (For inspiration, check out these picks from our Edible Pursuit event at Brooklyn Brewery or this list from the Village Voice’s Robert Sietsema.) We’ll choose one of the commenters at random. The winner will be announced this Friday, July 30.

And stay tuned for an MTK Festival ticket giveaway next week.
